Signed Koni Dimensional Textile Wall Art, 1970s
Striking large-scale vintage textile artwork featuring an abstract floral composition rendered in layered, padded fabric. Sculptural forms in chocolate brown, warm ivory, rust, and muted ochre create a dimensional, almost upholstered relief against the neutral ground.
Signed “Koni” at the lower right. The work from artist Koni Kim Scott / Koniart, the California textile and interior design studio founded by Korean-born artist and designer Koni Kim in Los Angeles in the 1970s. Kim studied design in Seoul before earning her MFA from UCLA in 1969 and went on to establish Koni Art, Inc. in 1976. Her work encompassed textiles, murals, decorative objects, and dimensional wall pieces for interiors.
A beautiful statement piece that sits somewhere between fiber art, sculpture, and interior design.
